A program providing assistance for middle and low income people who wish to become first-time homeowners. Services include pre-purchase counseling and credit counseling for home buyers.
Twenty-two graduates became first-time homeowners last year (601 since 1995). Four hundred seventy-five households attended a workshop, a home buyer education course, or an individual counseling session. Grants of $5,500 were provided by CHS to help with closing costs. Last year the first-time homeowners from CHS classes generated $2,581,491 in mortgage loans from local lenders.
