The mission of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux Archives is to collect, organize, preserve and make available for research historical and vital records, manuscript collections, and related records that document the Catholic experience and reflect the work of the Church within the boundaries of the Houma-Thibodaux diocese.
The Diocesan Archives are also responsible for developing and monitoring an efficient records management program and for identifying, collecting, describing, protecting, and making available the records of the archdiocese.
The purpose of the Houma-Thibodaux Archives is to collect, preserve, and maintain the papers and artifacts of the diocese, church parishes, church organizations, as well as past and present bishops, priests, and deacons and to promote an understanding of the Catholic faith, its local history and long-standing connection to the people located within the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux.
