Grace and peace be with you. January 30, 2022, begins Catholic Schools Week and it runs until Feb 5th. The ministry of Catholic Education is very important in the Church and very important in our diocese.
The ministry of Catholic education helps us to form missionary disciples for Jesus Christ - to utilize our Catholic faith across the curriculum each and every day to form children in faith and to academically educate them. It’s a vital and important ministry in our diocese.
I personally benefited from a Catholic education and I’m grateful to the sacrifice of my parents and so many others who provided me with a Catholic education which was a vital part of making me the person, the priest, the bishop that I am today.
After gathering for Mass on Sunday, the ministry of Catholic education is the largest ministry in our diocese. Each and every year, we celebrate Catholic Schools Week to remind us and to remind others of the great gift that Catholic education is in the Church and to our local area.
So I thank you for praying for Catholic education this week. I thank you for entrusting your children to a Catholic education. As we celebrate Catholic Schools Week, may we be ever grateful that the gift of Catholic education is to us and to all of those who have the benefit of being formed as a missionary disciple in a Catholic school.
God bless you,
+Bishop Shelton Fabre
