  • “There is an urgency.” - Bishop Fabre

“Let us begin by admitting what is at stake, namely the salvation of souls. As Bishop, priest, and one who is a spiritual father, I have a great love for our youth. I have a deep personal longing for their true happiness and eternal salvation. I want us to be grounded in the reality that ultimately any vision for parish-based youth formation is oriented to one end: the salvation of souls. We are called to serve because any structure of youth formation exists for one reason, and one reason only: the salvation of every young person and their being offered the opportunity to flourish to their full potential, becoming the saints they were created to be. If we are to appreciate the vision that God is calling forth in our diocese we must hear a new vision through the ears of what’s at stake: there is an urgency in our mission because there is an urgency regarding salvation. I repeat, there is an urgency in our ministry to young people.”

We have heard our Bishop. We feel the urgency. You feel the urgency. You know what’s at stake and you want to help.

You want to help, but don’t know how or don’t feel equipped. We can help.

Welcome to our first annual Youth Formation Leadership Summit. This year’s theme is “Through Him, With Him, In Him.” Through an encounter with Jesus Christ, we enter into a life-changing relationship with Him. It is in that relationship, we come to learn our identity, who we are as sons and daughters of the living God. And by living a life rooted in that identity, we come to know the mission He has for us.

For many of us, that mission is to help young people encounter His love. THROUGH that encounter of the divine love, they will desire a relationship WITH Him. And it is IN that relationship, they will come to know they are, not just another human being in the world, but a uniquely loved child of Jesus.

Are you ready? Do you feel the urgency? God is calling you. The 2019 Youth Formation Leadership Summit is meant to equip you in that mission.

  • Equipping Youth Leaders

This summer, July 19-21, 2019 the Office of Parish Support will host our first annual Youth Formation Leadership Summit.

This Summit will equip adults throughout the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux within Bishop Fabre’s vision for youth formation.

This year’s Summit will begin on Friday evening and conclude on Sunday afternoon. The experience will consist of both large group and small group events, each specifically designed to equip adults who are working with the young people in our diocese.

Friday will kick-off with a keynote address by Bishop Fabre. The remainder of the weekend will consist of workshops and breakout sessions meant to help equip adults with the tools and experience needed to implement Youth Formation programs in our parishes. The Summit has been designed to meet the needs of lay leaders in our diocese, to equip them to move forward with mentoring our young people.

    We hope you can attend.
